BEC blamed for 2010 exam fiasco

The Committee of Inquiry into the credibility of the 2010 national examinations concluded its public hearings on Wednesday after interviewing former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Ruth Maphorisa, and Botswana Examinations Council board of directors (council).

The committee members revealed that ever since the start of their work, BEC has been labeled as the stumbling block to the success of 2010 national examinations. "From the teacher unions, the PS and the minister, we have been told that BEC is the main stumbling block to the negotiations," the chairperson said. The committee will compile a report and make recommendations to the minister.
