BDP ready for Boswelatlou

Zubeida Raphel will once again try her luck in the Boswelatlou council seat after she won the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections held over the weekend.

Raphel garnered 76, while the other three contestants Sono Mekgwe, Goemeone Lekaukau and Moffat Mbaakanyi got 11, 18 and 49 votes respectively. The ward registered 730 votes in the 2014 elections.

Raphel is the former councillor for Boswelatlou ward. She was a councillor for 10 years between 2004 and 2014. She lost the 2014 general elections with only two votes against Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) candidate councillor Kabelo Sebako. The latter later quit his council seat due to work commitment. During the 2014 general elections, the UDC garnered 278 votes while BDP got 276.
