BDP postpones announcement of new executive secretary

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) central committee which was expected to release the name of the new executive secretary at a meeting this week has postponed the announcement, Mmegi is informed.

In an interview, acting executive secretary Lee Lesetedi said the ruling party leadership decided at its meeting that the announcement be postponed arguing that the process of identification was still not finalised as some applicants were yet to be interviewed.

"Hopefully at its next meeting next month they will announce the new executive secretary," said Lesetedi. Lesetedi has been holding fort in the post since the departure of then executive secretary Dr Comma Serema this year.
