BCP vets out former candidate

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) central committee has locked out its 2009 general election candidate, Masego Ntsatsi from contesting the Ikageleng Phase One council seat by-election.

The decision was taken during a central committee meeting last weekend. The Ikageleng Phase One seat fell vacant after the death of councillor Letsweletse Dinale last November.

BCP publicity secretary, Taolo Lucas told Mmegi that the party decided to lock Ntsatsi from the primaries after a recommendation from the vetting committee. He explained that the committee felt that Ntsatsi does not meet the requirements of contesting the by-election. He said contestants in the party primary elections to be held this Saturday will be Samuel Sebudubudu and Gabaikanngwe Madome.
