BCP vacates UDC next week

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) national conference of July 2022 resolved to give the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) six months to address important governance issues but with the period lapsing in a week's time, the BCP says its grievances have not been addressed and therefore its formal departure from the UDC is imminent.

In an interview with Mmegi this week, the BCP spokesperson Dr Mpho Pheko said it is safe to declare that the BCP's formal departure from UDC is about to happen.

She revealed that they are leaving the UDC because the governance and constitutional grievances that led to the suspension of the BCP from the UDC have not been addressed even up to now.
