BCP tells Minister to clear his name

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) parliamentary candidate for Lentsweletau-Mmopane Phagenyana Phage has told his opponent and acting Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Vincent Seretse to clear his name first before he contests general elections this year. Seretse, who is in Parliament as a nominated Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) MP is facing two counts of corruption.

Phage told residents of Kopong on Saturday that if they vote for the acting minister, there might be a by-election, should the courts find him (Seretse) guilty. “BDP made a mistake by allowing Seretse to contest for primary elections. 

“He has to clear his name first because he has a corruption cases that he is facing. The BDP is not sure whether the courts will acquit him or not.
