Batswana students in UK elect committee

Batswana students in the United Kingdom elected a new executive committee at an annual general meeting held in the city of Manchester. For the first time in the history of the Botswana students Union, the presidential race was contested by two female students. Sylviah Mthimkhulu and Bonolo Phometsi slugged it out in a fiercely contested race that saw Mthikhulu emerge victorious with 54 percent while Phometsi garnered 46 percent. Other members of the executive committee were elected as follows:

Wales: Tiisang Thokweng
South England: Tshepang Mabote

The event was rounded off with a football game between students based in Manchester and those from Nottingham for the BSU Challenge Cup. Manchester emerged victorious taking the Cup from the previous holders, Nottingham after a penalty shoot-out. There was also an evening party for the final year students, which was largely attended. The party was also to raise funds for the Union.
