In what is believed to be the final preparation to go into politics, former Police Commissioner, Edwin Batshu, has resigned his post as a member of the Customary Court of Appeal.

Batshu is serving notice until the end of February 2008. Batshu who was stationed at the Francistown Court had only served the court for a few months.

He was offered the job late last year by the Ministry of Local Government (MoLG), after retiring as the Botswana Police Commissioner. He started his new job on October 1, 2007. "It is true and I can confirm that I have asked the Permanent Secretary in the MoLG that I am terminating the appointment as member of the Customary Court of Appeal by end of February for personal reasons," Batshu said.
