BAM, BCP name 'Pact' candidates for five constituencies

FRANCISTOWN: The four constituencies of Maun West, Maun East, Ngami and Nata/Gweta allocated to the Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM) under its electoral pact with the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will be treated as focal point constituencies in addition to those already identified by the BCP.

According to a joint press statement by the Secretary Generals of the two parties, Taolo Lucas for the BCP and Matlhomola Modise for BAM, the BCP will provide parliamentary candidates for Nata/Gweta and Tonota South constituencies which have been allocated to BAM but the candidates will stand for elections under the banner of BAM.

The statement also announced that Taolo Habano, Rodgers Makgetho and Maaparenkwe Mpho of BAM have satisfied all the requirements of parliamentary candidacy and shall therefore represent the BAM/BCP Pact in the 2009 general elections. Habano, Makgetho and Mpho will contest the elections in Ngami, Maun East and Maun West respectively.
