Anglicans help in poverty eradication

The Anglican Women's Fellowship (AWF) under the Anglican Diocese of Botswana, hosted a conference themed 'Revive, Relate, Rejoice Women of God' to mark AWFs 20th Anniversary. Issues addressed at the gathering included the role of the church in fighting poverty, women in poverty, with a variety of issues including challenges faced by women. Speakers at the event, Magdeline Mabuse and Vanqa, informed the gathering that AWF, after conducting a study, engaged in an outreach programme, aimed at addressing issues of poverty, violence, and disease amongst others.

She said AWF as a way of improving quality of life came up with a Women and Youth Skills Development and Education Project, explaining that, training offered includes business skills, commercial skills, and human resource, just to mention a few. She said the programme is also mindful that not all individuals will get employment hence the importance of equipping women and youth with self-sustainability skills, where individuals can learn certain traits that will help them sustain themselves and possibly create employment for others.
