A man who claimed to have been a victim of violence and house break-in was on Friday lashed and fined by a customary Court for hitting his alleged assailant with a brick.

Olebile Mokoka, 31, was slapped with a P100 court fine and five strokes on bare buttocks by Old Naledi deputy court president Kenneth Thari for assault on Peterose Seiketso.

The court heard that on April 20, 2014, Seiketso went to Mokoka’s tuck-shop in Old Naledi around 11pm to buy cigarettes. But an argument broke out resulting in a fight that left Seiketso nursing head injuries. Mokoka told the court that the complainant came to his tuck-shop late at night to buy a cigarette. He told Seiketso that the tuck-shop was closed but the complainant demanded to be served.
