All expect 2013 exams to run well

Authorities and other stakeholders expect this year's national examinations to run smoothly compared to previous years when exams have been embroiled in controversy.

With the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Examinations (BGCSE) already underway since Monday, stakeholders are optimistic about this edition because an invigilation and marking agreement between teachers and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) was concluded early without a glitch and most of the learning material covered.

In addition, engagement of teachers to work extra hours on backlog resulting from the 2011 industrial action has seen many schools cover a sizeable content of the syllabi. The Secretary General of the Botswana Teachers Union (BTU), Ibo Kenosi, says everything is going well so far.
