The death of the 34 Mineworkers and several others at the hands of the trigger happy South African riot Police gun fire at Marikana Platinum Mine has shocked all of us.  It is all too sad that the Police Spokesperson has angrily described the workers as " ... hard-core criminals who murder Police" [Associated Press], an utterance which would only be-tolerated under the former white apartheid regime.
