Winky D�s first Botswana appearance

Popularly referred to as the dance hall igwe, Harare-born Winky D is set to make his first double appearance in the country’s only two cities this coming November. For an event dubbed One Love City-to-city Tour, the Disappear hitmaker is scheduled to perform alongside another heavyweight in dancehall music, Judgment Yard.

The events are scheduled for November 18 and 19 in Gaborone and Francistown respectively.One of the event organisers, Gilbert “PP” Seagile said that they chose dancehall genre, because it is rarely done in Botswana.

“The market needs something different.  He has the biggest song in the country at the moment. It was only inevitable that we bring him here,” Seagile said. Seagile also revealed that local DJ sensation, Latimmy is also busy in the studio working on collaboration with the Zimbabwean national. “The line-up is really exciting. We wanted to fuse all southern African countries under one roof, for this tour. After Botswana they will be heading to other countries for a similar like show. We have performers from Namibia, Zambia and South Africa,” he said.
