Veteran artist Mothebe dies

Veteran artist Rantefe Mothebe will be buried at his home village of Mochudi on Saturday. Although he is dead, Mothebe’s works and influence will live on for many more years to come.The elderly craftsman who was a member of Thapong Visual Arts Centre for many years, died on Saturday after falling sick last month.

 

Mothebe, who was a self-taught artist, shared his life story through his works of art depicting his various journeys. One of the most interesting pieces was The Blue Train, which he did a decade ago documenting the economic transformation Botswana has gone through since independence.
