The spirit of Gamalete will once again be reignited as the much-anticipated Tsa Ga Malete Pork Festival returns for its third edition Saturday,

November 1, 2025. Hosted in the heart of Gamalete, the proudly local celebration continues to champion piggery farming, agribusiness, culinary innovation, and Balete cultural pride. A press statement from the organisers says that since its inception in 2022, the Tsa Ga Malete Pork Festival has grown into one of Botswana’s most unique community festivals — a melting pot of food, music, learning, and entrepreneurship in piggery. The organisers believe that the 2025 edition promises an even bigger and tastier experience, bringing together the local leadership, farmers, chefs, families, and creative talent from Gamalete and across the country. Patrons can look forward to food demonstrations featuring Rati, the Cooking Kid, inspiring young chefs to discover the joy of cooking. The event will also feature a food Tasting of pork bites prepared to tantalise taste buds and ignite the love for pork, as well as live performances by traditional music groups, DJs, and artists, including Balete Ditlhaka Traditional Group, Ditlhokamotlhaodi, Ramotswa Brass Band, Ntirelang Berman, Piink, DJ Stanza, DJ Mimpo, and many others. "There will also be an Agribusiness Information Exchange, which is about sharing opportunities in the piggery value chain and empowering local farmers, while the cultural showcase will celebrate Balete heritage through music, dance, and storytelling," read the statement. The organiser further said the event will be a family affair, providing a safe and vibrant environment for all ages to enjoy pork delicacies. While this is a pork festival, the event will also cater to non-pork eaters. Speaking on behalf of the organising team, the festival coordinator, Itumeleng Teseletso emphasised that, “Tsa Ga Malete Pork Festival is more than just a festival — it's an annual celebration which is growing into an important local economic and cultural event that promotes culinary tourism, community development, and piggery value chain participation. We are building a legacy that connects culture with commerce.”
