Palalani’s art challenge gets support

When he started his 366 days art challenge in January, visual artist Kaene Palalani had no idea that this would turn into something massive.

Five months into the endevour, Palalni says his project has grown and in the process attracted interest from the business community. The 20-year-old visual artist caught the eye earlier this year with his dazzling scribbling technique when he set himself a challenge dubbed, The 366 days Art Challenge, meant for personal growth.

Through this initiative, he has challenged himself to produce an artwork each day until the end of the year. Palalani told Arts&Culture this week that he has since secured sponsorship from Kalahari Arts Suppliers for his initiative. He says Kalahari Art Suppliers’ deal means he will now have access to quality materials and as result the quality of his works will improve.

We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously.
