Over p400m budgeted for museums

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism will set aside over P400m for the construction and refurbishment of museums across the country as part of its Public Investment Programme (PIP) for the second Transitional National Development Plan.

On Monday, Minister Philda Kereng proposed to Parliament an amount P1.72 Billion Public Investment Programme (PIP) for the second Transitional National Development Plan.

Kereng said the money will cover five programmes under her ministry namely Broadening the Tourism Base, Infrastructure Development, Computerisation, Wildlife Species Management and Environment Protection.

We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning.
