Kids having fun during the previous Kiddies Festival
The Jwaneng Kiddies Festival and Family picnic will be hosted at Shekeng Shisanyama on March 29, 2025. Nthaga told Arts&Culture in an interview that their aim is to get families together and offer them time to bond. He explained that in many instances, most of the festival catered for adults, therefore, leaving children behind. He explained that this has created a gap as a lot of times families spend time away from each other due to different life commitments. “During the weekends when families should be relaxing together, most of the adults choose to find fun-filled events and or places where they can sit down, relax, and listen to good music unwinding after a hectic week filled with hard work. In most cases, they tend to go to various events that do not accommodate their children and therefore this makes children feel abandoned since they barely spend time with their parents. Kiddies Festival aims to close that gap and bring families together,” he stated.
He pointed out that the event will feature Jwaneng DJs and artists who will entertain the revellers. For children’s safety, he said they have partnered with children’s caretakers from different preschools to help them take care of kids during the event. He added that they aim to host the event every three months. “The event is also aimed at uplifting the entertainment industry of Jwaneng, bringing people together as we have lots of activities that cater for kids and adults, plus big water slides and jumping castles. I therefore encourage Jwaneng residents to bring their children and have a lifetime experience,” he ended.
