Local artists attend KZN imbizo conference

The ministry of youth, sport and culture (MYSC) has sent 16 artists to the annual Kwa-Zulu Natal Imbizo conference, which begins tomorrow in Durban.

The 16 artists, promoters and deejays include Punah Gabasiane-Molale, Nono Siile, DJ Bax, DJ Anthem, German Dollar, Seabelo Modibe, Kabelo “Scavenja” Tiro, Bofelo Segotso, David Letswiti, Phempheretlhe Pheto, Yandile Nuku. The group left for Durban this morning. The group leader, Modibe, said the conference will be a great opportunity for artists to network with Southern African Development Committee (SADC) industry leaders. “It is really about learning from the best in the industry. The KZN Imbizo is recognised internationally and we are thankful that the ministry has landed a helping hand in this project,” Modibe said.

There will be a mini festival on Thursday night dubbed Botswana Night to held at the Moses Mabida Stadium. The night will boast of performances by Punah, Nono, German and DJ Bax. Modibe will present a paper on the landscape of the local entertainment industry.
