One of the immensely talented local folklore poets, Kobamo Kgweba, has released a new album titled Dikgakgolo, enriched with eight tracks.

All the poetry songs in the album are an eye opener to many as they dish out some great advice to listeners on different aspects of life. Kgweba gained fame during the President’s Day Competitions under the poetry category where he reached the finals. However, he never scooped the first position in all the five years he took part in the competition. Despite all that, his talent cannot go unnoticed.

His new album is a testimony to this. In an interview with Arts&Culture, Kgweba said he composed all the eight poetry songs, which are integral to the lyrics of the album. They include Phetogo, Africa, Marea, Mokgoreletsi, Tautona, Botswana, Tanki MYSC and Tshwaragano. He said in the album, he worked with the youth from his home village, Molepolole, whose voices can be heard in some of the songs. He added that he was more famous for poetry than music while some people know him as a fine art artist. Furthermore, Kgweba said even though he recorded the album in 2020, he did not sell or market it initially.
