Veteran musician Jeff Matheatau has died at the age of 58.

The kwasa Kwasa music maestro died this morning Friday 27, 2025 at his home in Francistown after suffering a short illness.

His nephew Tshepang Bakwadi confirmed the passing of the singer to Mmegi Online, “I can confirm that my uncle passed away at his home in Francistown. We are heartbroken as a family because he was fit,” he said. The ‘Go ka tweng’ burst into the scene with his debut album dubbed ‘Dilala Di Tshameka.’

Matheatau was a respected figure in the music industry whose influence and contributions left a lasting impact on the nation and beyond.


His death has sent waves of sorrow across the local music industry with people remembering him as a dedicated artist, a mentor and a passionate man in music .
