Top local model, Kefentse Gokganwang, has been selected to partake in the Top Model UK competition that will be held in London on September 20, 2025.

In an interview with Showtime, the experienced Gokganwang explained that she was first chosen to participate in the competition in 2020 but her dream was shattered by the outbreak of COVID-19. The borders were closed just five days before she could leave for London for the competition. “That was the worst news I have ever received. I decided to re-apply for the competition again last year in December, and I received positive feedback from them because they also recognised that I was a previous applicant. They knew that I didn’t manage to come to the competition because of COVID-19, and they decided to give me another chance. This opportunity is one of the opportunities that I have been waiting for in my entire modelling life,” said Gokganwang. She stated that it has always been her dream to make international and to walk the ramp of big fashion shows as well as to work with influential people in the international modelling industry. “This opportunity affords me exactly that. I will also be working with models, content creators, producers, organisers and management for one of the world’s top four big fashion shows famously known as the London Fashion Week. It is an all in one opportunity,” she said.

She further explained that she wants to use the competition to establish networks and connections that could advance her modelling career and gain knowledge that she could share with the children that she trains locally. Gokganwang indicated that she developed a passion and love for modelling at the age of 12 when she participated in both modelling and pageantry. She said she was literally dragged by a friend to join a certain competition that was to be held in her yard. At that time, she said she had never received training, but to people’s amazement, she was among the people who were considered to be talented in the area.

She explained that it was through that opportunity that she realised that she had a talent for modelling and pageantry. She added that she started joining different pageantry competitions, which were the only most common at that time. She signed up with a modelling agency in Molepolole during her senior school days. “They polished my skills and mentored me. At tertiary school that’s when I decided to specialise in modelling and cut off pageantry because I felt that modelling was where I belonged. I have participated in a lot of local fashion shows, and one international fashion show called Soweto Fashion Week in 2018. In future, I want to sign up with famous, well-paying international modelling agencies and model for big designers and luxurious brands. I also want to groom and empower children to become the best version of themselves and make it big in the modelling industry without being exploited,” she added.

As a Christian, Gokganwang said modelling was not evil because it is a God-given talent. She further said God expects people to use their talents and multiply. She explained that to ensure that one is on the right track, aligning with the will of God for their modelling career, it took them to understand the path God has carved for them. Just like any other competition with challenges, she pointed out that this competition demands a lot financially. She said she had to pay for her travel costs, which included flight tickets, accommodation and wardrobe.

UDC's 100 Days: Please deliver your promises!

We duly congratulate them to have ousted the long ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) from power. Prior to taking power from the BDP, the coalition had made several election promises that are credited for influencing change and swaying the people to vote in its favour. The party had made an undertaking, which its leader and President Duma Boko consistently bellowed in his campaign trail. These undertakings were promises that Batswana would be...
