The Hunters Refreshed Vibes Battle of the DJs came to an end on Sunday night, with Leobah's Pub resident DJ, Pekay named the king of the turntables.

The grand finale was held at Wagga Gardenex but later on moved to Dejavu, following heavy downpours in Gaborone that nearly spoilt the fun. DJ Pekay took home P50, 000 and he will be travelling to Cape Town for the coveted The Balcony Mix later this month. He won the competition ahead of DJ Skul of Francistown, Reptile (Gaborone Phase 2) and Shimro from Serowe in a thrilling competition that saw the local DJs showcase their unique skills on the turntables. With his set coming up last, it was clear that DJ Pekay was the favourite as the crowd cheered him on and hit the dance floor immediately when he got on stage. From the onset set, you could sense that he is a crowd pleaser with his selection of songs.

His choice of music was spot on. He played music across all genres but relatable. He kept the crowd on their feet and played songs for all the generations. DJ Pekay showed that he is a true master of entertainment and that his skills extend beyond just spinning the decks. He displayed an understanding that his playlists should suit the preferences and personalities of his fans to give them the ultimate musical experience. However, it was not an easy win for him as the other DJs had solid and entertaining sets, which reflected the abundance of talent for the competition.

The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
