Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph is a motivational book by Cynthia Faith Abednego-Kgagodi. This book is dedicated to anyone who is going through some kind of situation and trying to find a reason to hold on.

In this book, the author bares her soul, recounting intimate struggles, from a life marked by the death of her parents, nursing an ailing child, meeting good people who changed her life for the good, believing a lie about her weight and finding purpose and identity in faith and hope.

The book aims to illustrate that even in the darkest moments, there is a divine choreography, a dance in the storm that leads to a sanctuary of light and redemption. Cynthia, as the author prefers to be called, is of the view that in every painful situation where challenges loom like dark clouds, there exists a dance that unfolds in the storm.

The book, therefore, tells a journey of resilience, and the enduring spirit that finds its strength in faith and hope.

Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph emphasises that amidst the trials that threaten to drown the soul, through the tears that fall like raindrops, characters rise and uncertainty and are stuck between a rock and a hard place finally reach the triumph and overcoming stage. This book resonates with the heartbeat of perseverance.

It reminds the reader that challenges will always come, but we choose to fight or sink.

“This book stands as a beacon in the aftermath of life’s vivid storms, where faith has been battered and bruised,” she said in an interview on radio just recently. She reiterated that the book is set to encourage readers to treat life like a moving ambulance with its ringing siren, to move swiftly with urgency and navigate through challenges with an alert and active mindset aimed towards the finishing line.

“It is for those trying to find their strength and courage despite trials and tribulations,” Cynthia said, adding that it is dedicated to those who are on the verge of giving up, to serve a gentle encouragement to dance in the storm while embracing life’s challenges with resilience. As a Christian, Cynthia believes that sharing her story through a book could benefit and heal a lot of souls out there who are going through life struggles. “I have also shared a bit about my personal encounters with God. I know a lot of people doubt that God can speak to them and through them, so in this book, I have shared ways that have worked for me that may work for others as well because I want this book to serve as an inspiration to the readers and allow them to find strength and grace in every step of the dance,” Cynthia proudly says.

“The seed of Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph took root in my heart in the stillness of the 2020 lockdown. Fear and self-doubt cast shadows over the worthiness of my thoughts and experiences. I doubted myself, I doubted my story, yet, with the passing years, the call to share my story intensified, overpowering feelings of uncertainty and doubt. I woke up one day and decided to do it, not for accolades, but with the hope of transforming even one life,” Cynthia stated, via Botswana Television a few weeks back.

The author emphasises that just like the very essence of the book’s message sometimes, it takes just one story to kindle a flame of inspiration and so she is glad that she managed to publish this book to touch lives. “The book serves as a testimony of resilience, a mirror reflecting my steadfast determination to defy circumstances,” she added. Each page echoes a narrative of hope, proving that adversities need not define one’s identity or derail the pursuit of destiny. The book encourages the reader to find the strength to rise through the fire and dance in the storm. For her to write this book, she had to gather the strength to share her journey, something that was not easy.

“I have not only defied self-doubt but also become a beacon for others navigating their own storms, so Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph is not just a book but is a living testimony to the power of embracing one’s voice, even when the world is hushed in uncertainty,” she shared in an interview with Arts&Culture this week.

The book boasts a roadmap for overcoming adversities in every facet of life, while it shares insights on how to cling to hope when the path ahead seems obscured by pain and uncertainty. It offers practical wisdom on holding steadfast even when surrender appears tempting. Readers will discover not only the resilience to weather life’s storms but also the transformative power one may possess.

It is a must-read for those facing personal losses, loss of a job, divorce, loss of a loved one, sickness, lack, demoralisation, hopelessness, frustration, hard-waiting, or even seeking to find the peace that surpasses all understanding, finding Christ, ways to find purpose in life. Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph provides a compass, urging all to dance through challenges, hold on through despair, and emerge triumphant on the other side.

Dance: Tests, Tears & Triumph will be officially launched tonight (Friday February 16, 2024) at 6pm at Cresta Lodge. It is expected that panelists such as Dr Kelly Champane-Mahlaya, Kay Ramaabya, Mompoloki Makwana and Segakweng Madisa-Quarshie will give their insights and share opinions in regards to the book. Meanwhile, Dr Lazarus Takawira is expected to give a keynote address, whereas proceedings will be directed by Nonofo Jesse.

Khama, Serogola should find each other

Khama’s announcement to take over as Kgosikgolo was met with jubilation by some, but it also exposed deep-seated divisions. The Bogosi Act, which clearly states that a Mothusa Kgosi cannot be removed without the minister’s involvement, serves as a crucial legal safeguard. This law is designed to prevent arbitrary decisions and ensure stability within traditional leadership structures. The tension between Khama and Serogola has been simmering...
