With the year about to end and people having been through a lot, a night full of prayer and worship is all that is needed for healing and restoration.

It is for the above reasons that a gospel artist, Gaone Selebo, and some of her associates have found it fit to organise a concert called Conny Lamola’s Prayer Show, which will be held Saturday, November 11 at the Word of Christ Ministry in Block 10. The event will start from 6pm till late. Selebo, famed as Gaone in the gospel music scene, explained to Arts&Culture that the event is about praying for all socio-economic challenges, diseases and fatal road accidents that Batswana have endured in recent times. She said they saw how worn out and hopeless people were and needed God’s comfort after going through such a challenging period. “As a born-again Christian, I was touched by the way families and friends perished every day. People died in large numbers during COVID-19 and at the same time, there were a lot of accidents and passion killings during that time. So, I discussed this with Conny Lamola then we came to an agreement that we need not just a show but a prayer show that will heal our land,” she explained.

She said the main objective is to pray for the country by praising God with hymns prayer. She indicated that they have invited some pastors to join them. Furthermore, Gaone pointed out that the event is open to both believers and non-believers to unite under one roof and seek God’s intervention. Among the gospel artists who will perform is Conny Lamola, who is the main artist. The South African will be joined by Segomotso Shuping, Diphala tsa Gauta and The Captives of Christ and Prospect also from SA. At the same time, the local line-up comprises Agnes Ntswejakgosi, Dikabelo Selwane, Gaone and Kabo Tlhaelo. Gaone explained that they will not allow alcoholic beverages at the event. However, they are selling food stalls for P300. She explained that it would be a very sensitive time whereby they would have a very serious prayer session.
