Maun is set to come alive this coming Independence Day weekend with an event featuring Botswana’s top female musicians, dubbed Pop Bottles Maun.

The event, which is the brainchild of James Ratshosa, will feature Botswana’s self-proclaimed queen of hip hop, Sasa Klass, a woman who many see as Botswana’s very own Nicki Minaj, controversial poet-turned- entertainer Berry Heart, another controversial figure, Bouncy as well as a woman who needs no introduction, Slizer of Diwewe fame.

Also on the stage at the Sakaumba Farm, will be other female heavyweights in Vebrok and Amantle.

The women have appeared in the news and gossip columns, but at the Popo Bottles Maun event, they will leave that aside and remind attendants why they are often referred to as the divas of the industry.

In an interview with Showbiz, Ratshosa said: “We hardly ever get to see these powerful women in the music industry sharing the stage, we want to see who is baddest.”

He continued: “Although we are all about women empowerment, we also want to which of these women, can really say she is the best of the best.”

The women however will have their male counterparts Ozi F Teddy, Double Jay, B-Block, Phouboy, Chrispin the drummer, Casper Tha DJ amongst others.

The main event, Pop Bottles Serowe, an annual event now on its third term, is slated once again for December 25.

The event received much attention on its first year, when the much-publicised scandal- turned-court case of popular artist Atlasaone  Molemogi aka ATI, hit the airwaves.

However the event organiser Ratshosa is confident that they have since moved on.

“It was a slight hiccup. It happens. We have since moved on and we are focusing on growing the brand. Last year in Maun, we had a little over 3,000 people attending our event.”

“Although we cannot deny the fact that we were shaken by such, we must acknowledge that we learn from such incidents, we have now covered our backs by registering Pop Bottles as a company.

“We have now tightened our security for the safety of our clients and our brand,” he explained.

Tickets for Pop Bottles Maun can be found at all Liqouramas in Maun and Molapo Crossing. For more details, their Facebook page is PopoBottlesMaun.
