As the National Arts Festival continues, Gaborone Southern region held the National Arts Festival art and craft exhibition at Thapong Visual Arts Center on Monday.

The exhibition is part of the ongoing Regional competitions across the country where participants battle for the national championship places. It pitted the young and upcoming artists against the experienced ones.

Exhibition curator and coordinator Goitseone Musonda said this year’s competition attracted a high number of submissions. However, Musonda bemoaned a drop in the standards during the 2023 competitions saying most artists work are not up to scratch. Musonda also said there were a few outstanding artworks across categories; most of the artworks were substandard.
