Australian-based painter and sculptor, Ray Gare, lambasted local artists stating that they are failing to grow because they have forgotten about abstract and contemporary art as they are focusing mainly on making quick crafts that will give them money.

Gare is one of the first artists to work at Thapong Visual Centre when Veryan Edward opened it in the 90s.

We have political, social and economic issues that are affecting us which they should be addressing through art,” Gare said.
