Mokone acquitted in sedition charges

The Sunday Standard editor Outsa Mokone has been acquitted on sedition charges.

This was after the Directorate of Public Prosection withdrew their opposition to Mokone’s application to have the charges withdrawn against him and his newspaper. 

Mokone was charged with publishing a seditious publication in September 2014 after his paper alleged that the then Office of the President Ian Khama had tried to conceal an incident in which the President was involved in a car accident while driving alone at night.
