Having emerged from the assertive, street smart and timely initiatives of its South Africa founder, Shane Lockoff about 10 years ago, 3G Mobile prides itself as Sub-Saharan Africa’s market leader and innovator.
The company is the largest distributor of handsets and accessories for brands such as Samsung, Huawei, and Apple. 3G Mobile’s Vanya Zlateva said Lockoff invited two ex-colleagues, hence 3G, meaning three guys, was born. This was done towards realising his vision of becoming one of the leading distributors of handsets and mobile devices.3G Mobile Botswana commenced operations in 2010 and serves as the local branch of the company, whose head office is in Johannesburg and has presence across the region. The 3G Mobile Group has operations in Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland and has recently opened in Mauritius.
The regional offices are part of the 3G Mobile Group and the setup of these warehouses and operations is funded internally. Botswana’s country manager, Brian White has over 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry, working with various networks across Africa. Zlateva revealed that he (White) has been involved in network setup, site infrastructure, and project management for projects from Eastern to Central Africa as well as Southern Africa.
