Over 400 strikers unemployed

Over 400 former civil servants who were dismissed in 2011 after the famous ‘Mother of all Strikes’ are still unemployed, it has emerged.

The outgoing BOFEPUSU president Masego Mogwera disclosed this during the BOFEPUSU congress over the weekend. She said workers had gone through all manner of turbulences and hardships since the 2011 industrial action and were yet to recover from the effects.

“This is a serious challenge to these members and their families as some were the breadwinners, youth, heads of families. It is therefore critical for us gathered here today to think deeply on what form of assistance we can offer these fellow comrades who sacrificed their jobs in the struggle,” said Mogwera.
