Member of Parliament (MP) for Mochudi East Bright Moagi Molebatsi was sworn in as MP at the beginning of the third meeting of the fourth session of the 11th Parliament yesterday. Molebatsi won the Mochudi East bye-elections on the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) ticket on April 21. Mochudi East seat became vacant after the death of Isaac Davids. Molebatsi was voted by 4,402 people, BDP’s Mpho Moruakgomo managed 3,284 votes, Independent candidate Japhta Radibe got 130 votes while 76 were spoilt.

A promising step for public schools, but...

For too long, the state of many public schools has been a source of shame. We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
