Saleshando warns against military junta

FRANCISTOWN: In the wake of the recently released Afrobarometer report that wrote of "perceptions on rule by the military", the leader of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Gilson Saleshando has warned against what he called experimentation with a military junta by the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Saleshando who is the presidential candidate for the electoral coalition of the Botswana Alliance Movement, the New Democratic Front and the BCP known as Pact, makes this warning in the coalition's draft PACT manifesto titled 'A Nation At A Crossroads: Which Way Now - Democracy or Military Dictatorship?'

The Afrobarometer survey also draws a parallel between President Ian Khama's style of leadership and perceptions of military rule.
