Photo boot-camp impressive

For the first time in recent years photography was the focus for 17 young participants in the photography workshop run by the Botswana Society for the Arts (BSA) last month.

And in the circumstances during some tasks I saw many of the attendees literally dripping with sweat and I'm sure some of them lost weight in the process of becoming better photographers.

The workshop was different from previous ones, as it was on an advanced level with most participants already used to working with cameras and a bit with computers. We met during three long weekends (Friday - Sunday) in different venues. Our main venue was Alliance Francaise, an institution that is very keen on promoting the development of arts and culture worldwide. The first weekend was a crash course in the theory of image-making and how the modern digital cameras work. It started off by visiting a photo gallery to learn how to talk about photographs and how to use a visual language.
