Moyanti: the canoe transporter

MAUN: At the tender age of 11 years, Albert 'Ali' Moyanti, a Sedie Community Junior Secondary School (CJSS) student, had already discovered his passion; paddling a canoe.

He grew up admiring his uncle, Terrence Mothibi's dexterity in paddling his canoe across the Thamalakane River, transporting people mainly from Sedie ward across to the Disaneng ward.

When the Thamalakane River, which snakes its way through the town of Maun providing a scenic view, is beaming with life like it is the case today, a canoe becomes the mode of transport for workers, students and those who have relatives and friends across the river.
