From A Cattle Post To A Tourist Haven

NATA: The first thing that caught my eye when I walked into the Nata Customary Court office was an enlarged autographed picture of the renowned personality, TC, famous for acting in the soapy Passions. He had visited Botswana last year.

Nata Village is the main gateway to the pristine tourist destinations of Maun and Kasane where TC ultimately headed as part of his itinerary. His picture hanging on the village Kgosi Mokgwathi Makgesi's office is a sign that Nata attracts celebrities of TC's calibre who utilise a few of its lodges.

For a village that started in the 50s as a cattle-post, it is not an understatement to say that Nata has come of age as it has developed into one of the most popular villages in Botswana. It has become the unavoidable resting place for global and regional travellers en route to Maun, Kasane, Kazungula and the Victoria Falls, amongst other important tourist destinations. Truck drivers transporting goods to and from Zambia, Namibia, Maun, Kasane and other places have found a valuable spot in Nata. Countless trucks park here before they continue with their long trips.
