Choppies reaches neighbourhoods

FRANCISTOWN: The Choppies Superstore that opened its doors to the public recently was a welcome development to residents of Somerset Extension, who just need to pop in to get what they want at favourable prices.

But there is unease among traders in the area, who feel they may be forced to close because the chain retailer is taking business from them.

Zanele Ndlovu whose home is near the resplendent shopping complex lightened up when asked what it meant to have Choppies Superstore in the neighbourhood.  Ndlovu said: "These days I hardly go to the tuck shops.  I find them a bit far.  If I need anything, I just walk across.  The good thing is that prices at Choppies are also reasonable compared to the tuck shops."
Her neighbour, who declined to be named, said she felt guilty that after years of depending on the tuck shops, she has never poked her face inside one since Choppies opened its doors.
