Baobab trees survive Kavimba Gate

The construction of the Ngoma-Kachikau road that was just completed at the end of 2010 brought a unique development to the entrance of Kavimba at the two baobab trees, otherwise, known as the Kavimba Gate.

When the road was constructed it then brought some questions to both the contractor and the residents of Kavimba as to what was going to be done in order not to damage the gate, as the new road could not fit in the original two trees.

That now left the contractor with no option but to find a way of not changing the image of Kavimba as the Tribe was against the idea of cutting one of the trees.  The contractor and the Department of Roads then agreed on an idea of planting a new baobab tree opposite the original two.
