The office is strategically located on the second floor of Ngilichi House, a yellow edifice that sits at the corner of Selous Avenue and Haskins Street above Meriting Spar.
It is not only the slow-moving traffic along the long and meandering street that enthrall him, but the hordes of people, some appearing energetic and others walking dejectedly. The latter, possibly arriving illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe still in the clutches of border-jumping fatigue.
Across the Selous Avenue from Meriting Spar is the Grand Lodge, a remnant of what used to be the Grand Hotel. In front of the green-tiled orange-painted hotel, a few people, unmistakably Zimbabweans, congregate on rickety benches languidly nibbling take-away chips and magwinya (fat cakes), perhaps from Spar or a cafe housed at the corner of the lodge.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
