Stop bluffing, Mr. MP

Tswapong North MP, Thebe Mogami should not bluff the nation by playing the role of the proverbial ostrich that stuck its head in the sand when faced with the reality of its plight.

Surely, the MP, a former senior administrator at the Office of the President and a representative of the country at the United Nations, ought to know the route that a parliamentary motion takes once it has been passed.

Or is he deliberately misleading the nation? Mogami is quoted in the Botswana Daily News of Monday November 19 saying the delay in finalising the legislation that compels MPs, ministers and senior government officials to declare their assets, interests and liabilities lies with the legislature and not the executive. If that is true, then Mogami needs to be drilled on the processes and procedures that a motion tabled by Parliament has to go through, and who exactly is responsible for implementation.
