Shocking attributions to Moroka

We read with shock and disbelief yesterday's Daily News where the Minister of Trade and Industry and MP for Kgalagadi South, Neo Moroka is reported to have urged government to reserve certain positions in the civil service for supporters of the ruling party.

The news story said that Moroka was lamenting the slow progress of government projects, schemes and programmes and blaming it on the civil service which he feared was sabotaging his Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). According to the report, the words were allegedly uttered at a BDP function in Tshabong.

 
Upon reading the story, we talked to the Minister who vehemently distanced himself from the report. If indeed he had said the words in the article, or something in relation to politicising the civil service, then we must, like every member of society, express concern.
