Please save ailing Bokamoso

Over two weeks ago, the hospital was placed under provisional sequestration. Last week it was reported that it will retrench 100 staff. This was a pointer to the fact that the hospital is not able to sustain itself. The greatest casualty is the chief executive officer, Kabelo Ebineng who was retrenched on Friday. According to one of the court appointed managers, more people may lose their jobs.

When Bokamoso was conceived, it was hoped that it was going to alleviate the shortage of expert health care in the country. It was anticipated that government would support this venture but this has not been the case. There have been denials back and forth as to what government should do. There are reports that government is still referring patients to South Africa even when they can get better treatement at Bokamoso.
