Govt fails test in computer system maintenance

We should congratulate the government for computerising services in public offices. This has made service provision a lot easier than before.

The Department of Transport and Road Safety (DTRS) has gone a step further by taking some of their services to Post Offices and this has reduced congestion. The unfortunate thing though is that the DTRS computer system at the Post Offices is susceptible to glitches.

On numerous occasions, it is down and thus defeating the very purpose of decentralising services. This is not only peculiar to DTRS. Computer glitches are rampant in scores of government departments and this inconveniences people who need services.
