Energise early party primaries

Over the years, it seems Botswana's political parties have not been able to learn from the imperfections that come with elections, internally or nationally.

Hopefully, holding early primary elections particularly among the ruling Botswana Democratic Party and the Botswana Congress Party and their allies will serve as an impetus for other players to hold theirs much earlier and freshen up to begin work for the general elections scheduled for 2009.

While holding elections early may not be a panacea to deal with recurring inner party feuds and misunderstanding, they could go a long way in purging post election ill feelings.
It is quite evident that after any given election, political parties face internal conflict and controversies that absorb the attention of the leadership and the focus of the party, in some instance, to the very detriment of its very survival.
