Turning P360 million in 8 years

Excuse Capricorn managing director Louis Beukes if he talks about his company's giant leap like he is boasting. From a humble beginning with a start-up capital of P300 000 eight years ago, to a giant with P360 million at the present moment, that is really a cause for excitement.

The company is celebrating a Cinderella story as a business venture in Botswana, thanks to its relationship with the employees in the civil service. The Penrich Group of companies today has a holding company, Capricorn Investment Holdings (CIH).

 
The CIH's managing director, Louis Beukes says they got a break when they joined forces with the Amalgamated Central local government and Parastatal Manual Workers Union to establish Penrich Employees benefits in 1999.  Beukes says in the beginning Penrich offered funeral services cover, legal cover, as well as loans to the majority of the Union members who could not secure loans with commercial banks because of their meagre salaries.
