The event is designed to address some of the practical challenges entrepreneurs face when moving from an idea to a commercially viable enterprise. Transition Media, who are organising the summit, explained the summit was developed in response to a recurring gap within the entrepreneurial journey. In Botswana, they realised, that while many aspiring business owners have the creativity and ambition to start ventures, they can struggle to access the information, support, networks and opportunities needed to turn those ideas into sustainable businesses. Hence rather than focusing solely on motivation, the summit will bring entrepreneurs into direct contact with institutions, professionals and organisations within Botswana’s business ecosystem. The intention is to help participants better understand the practical requirements of establishing and growing a business, convenors said.
Founder of Transition Media and organiser of the summit, Munshya Libweshya, said their goal is to create an environment where entrepreneurs leave with more than inspiration. “We want them to leave with practical knowledge, meaningful connections and a clearer path towards building profitable, sustainable businesses,” he added. For the organisers, however, providing information is only part of the summit’s purpose. A major focus will be helping entrepreneurs understand where to find relevant support, who to approach and how to establish the connections required to act on the information they receive.
But on the particularly sensitive question of cadre deployment, the BNF must tread very carefully.The issue deserves robust debate, not ideological enthusiasm.
