Institutional investors have responded strongly to ABC Holdings’ offer of equity in BancABC, snapping up 82.3% of the shares on offer, BusinessWeek has learnt. BancABC’s majority shareholder, ABC Holdings, is selling a 24.9% stake in the Gaborone-headquartered bank, comprising 180.5 million shares.

Shares were initially offered to institutional investors, clients of the sponsoring broker and other stockbrokers, ahead of the Initial Public Offer that opened on Tuesday at P2 per share.

BancABC’s entire shares will be listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) on December 10.
