Senior directors at RPC Data plan to approach investors with a share buyback plan aimed at gaining full ownership of the technology firm. The deal is expected to result in the delisting of RPC from the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE).

The 24-year-old software development and consultancy firm first debuted on the local bourse on November 1, 1999 as one of the Botswana-based pioneers of the exchange. Its upcoming delisting will be the first voluntary departure from the BSE Domestic Companies main board since Sefcash left in September 2010.

On Wednesday, the BSE halted trade in RPC shares in light of the planned buy-back. The exchange's spokesperson, Lame Akanyang confirmed that the technology firm had notified the BSE on its plans, but declined to comment on the possibility of a delisting. "The transaction is still under discussion and not yet finalised," she said.
