Parents exploit youth fund - CEDA boss

The chief executive officer of Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) Thapelo Matsheka has revealed that parents are using their children to access the Young Farmers' Fund.

The fund was set-up recently by government under CEDA to help the youth to engage in agricultural activities. When briefing journalists on Tuesday, Matsheka revealed that parents are using their children as a front to get money from the fund.

He stated that there was an emerging trend in which parents were leasing out under developed land at exorbitant rates to their children. Matsheka said that the lack of land and basic infrastructure for prospective beneficiaries is proving to be a bigger challenge to the fund.
